No, we don't use it. We update via esxcli, our two esx have the latest pathc. The tools however remained in Version 911xxx.

Do you have a special reason to replace the reliable E1000 with unstable vmxnet3 ?Did you clean up the 10 phantom nics you probably now have in your guest ?

по поводу скачать vsphere client с vmware.com - не нашли, значит плохо искали, а вообще http://ваш_вцентр_сервер.ваш_домен.локал, там и возьмите. А если 5.1 думаю понадобится и web client.
