I expanded from the command line because esxi wouldn't allow me to expand the disk through the gui.
The annoying thing is my examples were not the only ones that I had tried. When I saw your reply I could have sworn that was one of the command's I'd already done but it obviously wasn't.
Thank you for the snapshot info. During my research of this issue I had come across that but it's good to have it confirmed.
