Environment:
- 1 vCenter appliance (VM)
- 2 ESX hosts with 1 local datastore each (no SAN); E1 and E2
- 1 Gbps networking
- no vMotion - the VM to be migated is switched off
When performing a VM-migration form E1 to E2, I see the network speed drop as low as 5Mbps for the data transfer. I get the same results whether starting the migration from the viclient or from the vsphere Web client
The peek on the chart is a file copy from a VM disk located on the E1-datastore to a LAN-client to demonstate that the LAN bandwidth available to E1 is much higher.
My Question: is the bandwidth used for migrations limited and, if so, can I tune this speed ?
