Did you install any new software on the PC (e.g. MS-Office 2013)?
The step following the last one reported in the log file is the creation of the UI, so this could also be related to any Internet Explorer settings. Anyway, you could try to install VMware Player using
VMware-player-5.0.2-1031769.exe /z "action"="install"
to see whether this works around the UI issue.
