Vmware Esxi 5.1 HP Storage Latency

Hi Everyone, I have 2 HP DL380 G6 Servers with identical HDD's and storage controller P410i.

Server1:The one with issues has 512MB Cache and a Battery Backup was only just put in a Day ago so still may be charging. Vmware is installed to a raid 1 on 2 x146GB disks as using the onboard SD Card slot is on the same bus as the USB and eliminates all usb passthrough to the server ports. The 2 TS's were installed on seperate 300GB RAID1 volumes with 10K 6GB/s disks.

Server2: The had no memory cache but I just added a 256MB Memory Module when moving the VM between hosts. No backup battery for Raid. This server hosts our DC and has Vmware loaded on 2 x 146GB RAID1 and DC loaded on 300GB RAID1 10K 6GB's disks.

I had 2 MS 2008 R2 Terminal Server VM's running fine on server 1 for a few weeks and then have had very bad latency issues.

I have not been able to install an agent for the Raid card as there isnt one from within the VM and the HP Insight Management has not worked for me either.

By bad I mean spikes of 2000-3000ms every few minutes during busy periods. The spikes are reads, if that makes any difference.

I have moved one of the TS's off that server onto another DL380 with P410i which has our DC running on it and it is under 25ms latency on that server. They are the same disks, I just unplugged them and then loaded the datasore and imported the machine.

I can safely say it is the Raid card that is the issue, I just don't know how to test it within VMware.

Any help appreciated.
