If an esxi host is configured with scratch space - what gets stored there (whether "there" is a ram disk or a datastore)? Is it ALL of the logging that may otherwise be sent to syslog? And on that same server - if I then ALSO configure syslog, is the scratch space being used AND the same information is being sent to syslog?
Would it make sense to configure a host with ONLY syslog, leaving scratch un-configured. Would any information NOT be captured in syslog, that would have been captured in scratch?
