I know it has been a while since this thread has been active but I have spent the last 8 months working on my vShpere lab and teaching classes in virtualization.
The lab is up and working. My gigabit network infrastructure is able to keep up with the demands of the active exercises I require the students to do. My Qnap NAS is feeding iSCSI block level access luns to the students for use by their hosts. We are able to complete exercises in almost all areas of a beginning to intermediate level vSphere and general virtualization course.
In other words, I figured it out myself.
When I came into this forum last year, I was looking for some advice on how to set up the lab. I assumed that I would get some general hints or pointers.
What I did get, however, was a question on whether I was qualified to teach. Nice answer to my original question!
You may be surprised to find out that I do not need to be "certified" by any software vendor in order to understand, use, and teach a subject. Also, people without a VCP might be just as qualified to use the products as those who do have a cert.
I hope you are proud of your certification, I am sure you worked hard to receive it. Just be aware that VMWare is a software company, regardless of how much profit they make from their certification division.
