Setting up a shared disk on host machine in ESXi 5.1

Hi All,

I have an ESXi 5.1 server which is running three Windows Server 2008 VM's on a RAID-10 array.  The server has a second array that I want to set up as a shared drive that can be accessed by all three VM's, but I'm having some trouble getting it to work.  Basically, what I've done is set up a datastore on the second array and then used the Add Hard Disk option in the first VM to create a new hard disk the full size of the datastore (1TB).  This worked fine and I could copy files to and from the new drive.  But, when I rebooted the VM I got the message "There is no more space for virtual disk /vmfs/volumes/515eed...", which is the shared drive I'd created, and it wouldn't boot into Windows.  I've had a look, and I can't find any documentation or articled on this, so I'd be very grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of some or maybe explain how to set it up properly.

Thanks,

Andrew
