Interesting, I don't see a firewall rule either on our ESXi 5.1 hosts either, but I've tested the netdump successfully when I test crash a host. I'm guessing the KB is more applicable to ESXi 5.0.
We are booting our ESXi 5.1 via Auto Deploy with stateless caching.
